The world is struggling in its relationship with work. HP’s 2025 Work Relationship Index reveals a deterioration in that relationship across all desk-based employees, along with a 25% gap in workplace satisfaction and fulfilment between knowledge workers and business leaders. Only one in five knowledge workers feel their relationship with work is healthy.
Other findings from the survey include:
- 62% of knowledge workers say their company’s demands have increased over the past year
- 45% feel their company prioritises profit over people
- Half (49%) of IT decision makers and 41% of business leaders use AI tools daily
- Only 25% of knowledge workers use AI tools daily
However, there is a solution. The survey show that by democratising AI across the business, instilling clarity on goals and strategy and providing training, businesses can ensure that knowledge workers feel that the business is investing in them.
